LIVE Program
Overview:
Provides an array of individualized support services for adults ages 17-21 with developmental and social disabilities, enabling them to lead independent and productive lives. The LIVE program is for students with disabilities who qualify for programming through their local school districts beyond 12th grade. Students will spend 80% of their time in the community at worksites and 20% of the time working on vocational and independent living skills.
Services Provided:
- Individualized educational plan (IEP) designed to meet each student’s level of learning
- College Tours
- Opportunity to audit a college course at CCSU
- Job Fairs
- Work site experience with a job coach
- Starting salary $7.00 with potential to earn up to $10.00 per hour
- Life Skills training: cooking, budgeting, steps to renting an apartment, obtaining State ID and much more
- Individualized instruction with a special education teacher in English and Math
- Community Learning
- Assistance in applying for state services such as DHMAS, DDS and/or BRS
